Hacktoberfest is a global celebration of open source. In 2026 it focuses on experimenting, learning and building with open source artificial intelligence and open-weight models.
For two days, Mexico's community of developers, founders and builders comes together to form teams, explore new technologies and turn ideas into working projects. Kickoff is at Lucerna 34; Build Day + Demo Day is in person, with the venue to be confirmed.
Got an idea? Want to experiment with an open model, build an agent or push a project further? This is the place. There will be mentors, workshops, tools, APIs, prizes and partner perks throughout the sprint.

Participants will form teams and build a project around AI, open-source software, open-weight models, or related emerging technologies.
Projects can explore areas including AI agents, automation, developer tools, open-source software, open-weight models, and new applications built with emerging AI technologies.
Final projects will be presented to the judges during the closing demo session. Full challenge details and rules will be announced before the event.

Day 1 is Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM (Mexico City time). Day 2 is Wednesday, October 28: an in-person Build Day + Demo Day, with venue TBC. Hacktoberfest México is part of Mexico Tech Week, October 26–November 1, 2026.
Day 1 kickoff is at Lucerna 34, Col. Juárez, CDMX 06600. Day 2 is in person; its venue will be shared with registered participants.
